[Cooker] setup: grpconv hangs

I upgraded the setup package and found that grpconv hangs taking 100%
CPU usage.

I did an strace, and after some initial calls it gets stuck in this call
with increasing addresses:

brk(0x80d3000)                          = 0x80d3000

An ltrace shows (too long to post) it doing a strcmp between each group
name with each other, and again when it finishes.
