[Cooker] GRUB...Why is it a dependency of base system (i.e why can't it be removed?)

Why is Grub installed mandatory? If you try to unistall it it says it's rewuired by basesystem....that's great but I use good ol lilo....perhaps this dependency could be romoved.....question though...since I'm using LILO can I safely force a remove on GRUB? Ryan
