The /etc/X11/XftConfig file has changed.
After commenting out 'dir "/usr/share/fonts/default/Type1"'
KDE works for me again. I guess depending on your
installed fonts you have to comment out some
more lines. It seems KDE with AA does not like
URW fonts ...
