Correct.  That is the problem.

Tell rpmdrake that then.  I did not issue the "rpm" command, rpmdrake
did.

Correct.  The pre-un should remove libsafe (only the version being
removed of course) from /etc/ld.so.preload if it is being removed (rpm
-e).

It's a problem of both upgrade and remove to be accurate.

Regardless, the rpm's scripts should make sure to not leave the system
