ah - correct module IS snd-card-es1938.o
es1938.o will load fine I'm sure but I believe it is some sort of mixer 
module. Look in ummm.. /proc/asound/soundcards or something similar --- 
sndcards maybe. If you more it I bet it will say ----No soundcards detected 
----.
If so, it's IRQ's and DMA's all the way!
