Hello,

For a long time I have not been able to use my desktop
PCMCIA adapter (PCI, using a CL6729 chipset, i82365
compatible) under Linux 2.4. Now, earlier this month I
installed LM 8.0 beta 3 on the machine and, surprise
surprise, it works like a charm! Ditto with the final
Mdk8.0. Thank you Mandrake :)

Now, being rather inquisitive I tried to replicate
this. Since that machine is not my main workstation
anyway I installed Debian unstable, and compiled a
pristine kernel 2.4.3. No go, still would not work. So
I compiled Mandrake's patched kernel. Still would not
work. I checked Mandrake's spec file to see what
patches have been applied to the pcmcia-cs bit (since
the kernel part is definitely identical). Could not
find anything definite either.

Quite a little bummer here... would appreciate any
suggestion, especially from the kernel maintainer.

Regards,

Michel Salim
