Hello folks-

OK, so maybe i'm nuts for trying to update from cooker now that
8.0 is out, but tonight I did a clean install from ftp.ciril.fr.

Pixel - the installer worked flawlessly! wonderful.

OK, now the BAD news. KDE is dead. That particular mirror has
the new alpha level code, one would expect it to be a little buggy.. but
it doesn't come up at all - just consumes huge amounts of resources.

The initialization splash screen status gets as far as starting
interprocess communication - and hangs there, with the hard drive doing
something about once every 5 seconds (slow machine, I guess). If I kill
it, then restart X and use Gnome, and bring up gtop, there are a ton of
the startup process (dammit, should have written it down! don't
remember)
something like 70 of them! The longer I go before killing off the
startup,
the more of them will be there when i go look from Gnome.

Any ideas how to fix this?

        Vinny
