Speaking of which, my mandrake cooker system has a tendency to unload my
aic7xxx module on a regular basis.

I believe this is the fault of /etc/cron.d/kmod - which contains:
*/10 * * * *    root    /sbin/rmmod -as

Normally, that would only remove unused modules. However, my aic7xxx
module seems to get caught fairly often, and thus my scsi disks become
inaccessible (ive had this happen while compiling source on them).

This has been happening to me since about... 2.4.3 i guess. Now i just
compile my own kernel with the scsi modules compiled in.
