Hi,

FWIW, I have an environment that's similar (but not identical) and haven't
had any trouble.

I'm running Mandrake 8.0 with a 2.4.4 kernel (AIC7XXX Rev 6.1.12 as
module). The system was last booted on May 1 at 17:31 and has been running
happily for the 25 days, 18 hours since then.

I have had NO problem with the driver being unloaded. My /etc/cron.d
directory does not contain a kmod file.

"cat /proc/modules" shows:

         aic7xxx 107772 3
         sd_mod 10920 3
         scsi_mod 90012 3 [st aic7xxx sd_mod]

for the scsi driver.
