There appear to be some problems with Software Manager under 8.0.
Logged in as root:
* When changing sources (adding or deleting), and re-opening the 'sources'
dialog, none of the changes 'took'. No matter how many times it is being
re-entered, the changes never take hold.
* I should be able to double-click on any source, and have the window come
up that allows me to edit the source, instead of having to delete and create
new if I want to make changes (this is a feature request).
* When doing an 'install' from a remote location (doing upgrades), only the
first installation appears to work. Subsequent ones *say* they installed
correctly, but haven't done anything (it claims it downloaded and installed
a 4 megs file in 2 seconds) - sometimes it doesn't even provide the download
feedback, but just claims the installation went fine.
All of this is on an entirely freshly installed system, using ReiserFS, from
a bought copy of Mandrake 8.0 standard edition - selecting pretty much
everything for the installation. Doing a regular (non-expert) installation.
Any idea how to fix this?
