I think that maybe all he is looking for is to use it as an ATA-100
controller, which Mandrake probably supports now (I have 1 on-board
Promise RAID chip in one machine and an ATA-100 PCI Promise
controller in another.  Both provide ATA100 performance in Mandrake
8.0  Unfortunately, a hard disk is still required on IDE0 for booting
<grrrrr!>).
