having not read the rest of the thread i would like to remind everybody 
that most 'hack+' packages (i see someone just uploaded hackmesa which 
is exempt for now) go unmaintained for quite a while and get mighty 
dusty along with some/many others in contribs.  /me notes those with 
2000 after there dates and those which use libc5 :P
