I do agree with you, BUT this features is very interesting.
It is the easiest way to do a minimal install in a short time.
It's true that it's sometimes painfull to scan all the package during the
install in order to find what you are looking for.
ok I know, what about using rpmdrake/urpmi afterwards ? Yes, but the first
solution is faster.
You want to do a mini install for a guy who come from windows. As u know he's
need, since the install you quickly select what u want by searching juste
with the name. If this guy want to reinstall it will be easier. if he see me
install the distro and after spend my time with rpmdrake desinstalling and
installing packages .... he will be confuse and frightened.
Classify by theme is a good idea, but the search feature is so better. It wil
be the "feature killer" of Mandrake.
How many times did I suggest to some friends of mine to install a Debian
rather than a Mandrake because of the fact that :
+ They had short place on their HD
+ They just want a server
If there was this research option, I will be able to say : u search for this,
and this and that, u install and it's fine. dselect has this feature if I'm
not doing a mistake.
Is it very difficult to implement this to DrakX ?
