Here is a example...

[root@cool rpms]# rpm -Uvh chromium-0.9.12-3mdk.i586.rpm
Preparing... ###########################################
[100%]
   1:chromium ###########################################
[100%]

now when i do a query nothing shows up, no version number, no error
message
telling me the package is not installed, it also does the same thing if
i
give rpm the -qil -v or -e flags (the actual files don't appear to be
deleted
by the -e flag). 'rpm -qa |grep chro' does not yield any results
either.
I can tell the package did install and the before/ after scripts appear
to be
running.

[root@cool rpms]# rpm -q chromium
[root@cool rpms]#

Ok, I say something is wrong with the database, so i issue a rpm
--rebuilddb,
it does it no problem, then when I try the same command I get.

[root@cool rpms]# rpm -q chromium
error: package chromium is not installed

Ok, lets try a new database....

cd /var/lib
mv rpm rpm-bad
mkdir rpm
rpm --initdb

Now when I try installing it again... same issue?!
cd ~/rpms
rpm -ivh --nodeps chromium-0.9.12-3mdk.i586.rpm

I got my real rpm database back into service and I went and downloaded
the
rawhide chromium and installed it using the same procedure as I did
above and
it shows up fine in the database, I also tried other none cooker rpms
and it
worked fine. I have had the same problem with many other cooker rpms.
