[Cooker] network shutdown problem

Has the problem with shutting down eth0 got a fix?  This makes me very 
nervous, as I can't shutdown!  My system gets as far as shutting down eth0, 
and then hangs - so the file system never gets unmounted, the buffers never 
get properly flushed, and the file system gets corrupted.   Last night's 
shutdown was rather dicey - fortunately most of the important stuff I use 
didn't get corrupted, but I did loose some things.
