weird... all the kde packages were just updated from a 7am~ time stamp to a
3:11pm timestamp... the filenames are the same, etc..
there are a lot of other packages that have also just updated timestamps...

This is strange, I just did an update against sunsite.uio.no...
yesterday's kernel-2.4.8-4
13119999 Aug 14 22:30 kernel-2.4.8-4mdk.i586.rpm
was replaced by
13119991 Aug 15 2001 kernel-2.4.8-4mdk.i586.rpm
the same is true of ALL the kernel packages, they are replaced by files 8
bytes smaller, is this right?
