Any chance of updating xmovie ?  version 1.9 is out.  Here's the blurb off

1.9 More MPEG-2 HDTV program stream support. MPEG-2 YUV 4:2:2 playback. libdv 
update. Migrated to GCC-3.0, Linux 2.4.7, libc-2.2. Installs in /usr/bin 
instead of /usr/local/bin. Be sure to delete the old binary if you were alive 
back then.
