I had very similar problems with my Linksys EtherFast 10/100 (pcmcia).  I
believe it all started when I went into the network configuration and
couldn't find the right network card (btw, I had to choose _something_
before it would let me out...  someone should take a look at that.)  I
eventually wound up editing the pcmcia configuration file and got things
working more or less by trial and error...  The file in question should be
under /etc/sysconfig and may be called pcmcia.conf or just pcmcia?  Don't
remember.  Let me know if you want to pursue this and I'll find out for you.
