Weird, their own docs page still say to compile with gcc 2.95 and below - or 
at least not Mandrake's gcc3 since that was compiled with gcc 2.96. Quoting 
this almost verbatim, also the bit advising against building binaries.

Have not used the program myself, can it dynamically load plug-ins like XMMS 
does, or do the libraries have to be accounted for at compile time? Since the 
DivX 4 library is not open source, and Mandrake cannot possibly ship the 
Win32 codecs, any binary Mandrake distributes will only link to ffmpeg and 
libmpeg2.
