+ nvidia card ( TNT/TNT2/GF/GF2/GF3 ) : to have 3D ( the best 3D support )
and Xv extensions you just need to install the drivers from nvidia site. Very
easy.
+ Matrox : the same + optimisation pour multimedia
+ ATI : the same

nvidia doc : http://www.nvidia.com/us/nn/pg000014.htm ,
http://www.gentoo.org/doc/nvidia_tsg.html ,
http://perso.wanadoo.fr/linux_wizard/howto_nvidia.html

matrox : http://www.matrox.com/mga/support/drivers/latest/home.cfm ,
http://www.cs.brandeis.edu/~eddie/mga4linux/

ATI : http://www.linuxvideo.org/gatos/

a review of 3D under Linux :
http://www.thedukeofurl.org/reviews/misc/3dlinux/index.shtml

DRI site : http://dri.sourceforge.net/status.phtml

just for information, mga_drv is here :
[root@bastard root]# urpmf mga_drv.o
XFree86-server:/usr/X11R6/lib/modules/drivers/mga_drv.o

DRI ( i.e 3D ) for ATI, matrox is available :
[root@bastard root]# ls /usr/X11R6/lib/modules/dri/
gamma_dri.so* i810_dri.so* mga_dri.so* r128_dri.so* radeon_dri.so*
sis_dri.so

gatos is available.

As it is not the purpose of this ML, I think that you should finally have a
look here : http://www.linux-mandrake.com/en/hardware.php3

I CC to cooker ML just for information and maybe correction ( I only use
nvidia card and I will be please to find doc/howto for ATI/matrix in order to
write one )
