did you use bastille or msec ? they may remove SUID bit to mount
[will@bastard will]$ ls -l /bin/mount
-rwsr-xr-x 1 root root 57500 sep 9 01:04 /bin/mount*
did you check fstab and the user option ?
[root@bastard root]# grep /mnt/cdrom /etc/fstab
/mnt/cdrom /mnt/cdrom supermount
fs=iso9660,dev=/dev/scd2,ro,nosuid,noauto,nodev,exec 0 0
