I installed the rh on a 5 GB partition, where I earlier had Cooker. All
my Cookers, two now, are reiserfs, but the rh is an ext3.

I have only run a kernel update once on a Cooker, just for a test, and
used a -Uvh. From memory this cleared the old kernel, but wrote
correctly to grub about the new one. My rh -Fvh clearly showed that
it cleared out the old headers - the used upgrade does not save an
idiot, here is the rh boot directory.

I don't know about what tests to tun, I only installed it to check out
the burned CD's for my sons - they prefere rh. Besides I have never
installed Mdk8.1, as I have had small problems with kudzu and devfs most
of the time.
