You don't need an URI on your client. 'lpr -P<printername>' should work.
Perhaps you have to set ServerName in client.conf.
If you have 'cups' RPM installed on your client machine (besides 
'cups-common'), look at http://localhost:631/. The printers of your server 
should be listed. If not look in cupsd.conf on your server (catchword 
'broadcast')
