The funny people at mandrake have changed the IDE controller boot order in the kernel. In case you are using the RAID controller, its first harddisk will be mounted as /dev/hda. In that case you should turn off the Promise during installation and add "ide=reverse" to the "append =" args in /etc/lilo.conf, issue a /sbin/lilo, reboot and turn the controller back on.
