Many MUA's just check if your .signature (or whatever is named ) is executable,
and then they _run_ it and get the output instead of just _reading_ it.
So try:
.signature:
        #!/bin/bash
        uptime
        echo "Hello, its me"

chmod 755 .signature

It works for balsa 1.2.3.
