I have no idea if this is the 'right' way, but all I did was download the
RPMs and:

rpm -ivh libqt3*
rpm -ivh kde* --force

Then I dropped to a console and did 'init 3', log out, log back in as my user
and 'startkde3'. The only problems I have had on switching back and forth
was with KMail (stored passwords and filters).

If you drop the '--force' off, you'll see that all it is overwritting is the
'/usr/lib/menu' entries.
ie:
/usr/lib/menu/kdegraphics-kcolorchooser
/usr/lib/menu/kdegraphics-kcoloredit
/usr/lib/menu/kdegraphics-kdvi
/usr/lib/menu/kdegraphics-kfax
/usr/lib/menu/kdegraphics-kfract

There may be a better way, but this worked for me :)
