I don't have an explanation, but after this letter I got back and checked the following: When I boot with the bootdisk, my box has tremendous problems to shut down, this is now repeted three consequitive times: The screen is filled with things like: "....unmount2: illegal seek.... ... floppy IO .... ..VFS: busy inodes on ..." The only thing I can see in syslog is: Dec 22 18:49:11 One09 nfslock: rpc.statd shutdown failed When I log in, probably during the phase of checking my passwd, the floppy led comes on. regards guran -- Mandrake Linux 8.2 Cooker kernel-2.4.16.11mdk-1-1mdk version:2001:12:21:21:28
