why not just use gftp, download all files after a
certain date, then do:
rpm -Fvh *.rpm
it will then give you a list of all files that need to
be installed for this to work. Most will probably be
already downloaded, so download the rest and install
those files mentioned with 
rpm -ivh name1.rpm name2.rpm name3.rpm
then rerun
rpm -Fvh *.rpm
that should have you updated.
