I think the most common case will be to remove the package, for most people; if you want to keep packages around I'm not sure that /var/cache is the right mechanism. I admit one reason I want installed packages gone is that I routinely cd /var/cache/rurpm/rpms; rpm -Uvh*.rpm then move packages to a subdrectory one by one until everything works OK. And if some of them are already installed, it's harder. Of course, MandrakeUpdate routinely wants me to upgrade kernel-headers and then complains they are already installed, and I leanrt not to try updating xscreensaver (conflict with gnome control center) or librep (conflict with sawfish). So I select all and then unselect those ;) Maybe a clean install won't have those probs, I hope to try soon. > > Then remove packages older than a week, is my suggestion, for a minimal > > change. > > +1 +1 means you agree, or that you want 2 weeks? or 6 days??
