i did some more testing and it seems it's related to the highpoint
when i disable the raid controller the installer start's

i found this list on the kernel mailinglist about a similar problem (other
mb , same hpt controller) :
http://groups.google.com/groups?hl=en&threadm=linux.kernel.20020221091319.37
e74cba.lkml%40andyjeffries.co.uk&rnum=1&prev=/groups%3Fhl%3Den%26q%3Dhpt372%
26meta%3Dgroup%253Dmlist.linux.kernel

seems 2.4.18 could prove a sollution

this second thread gives a patch to fix the sollution

http://groups.google.com/groups?hl=en&threadm=linux.kernel.04f801c1af2d%2405
697130%2412320987%40dr.avaya.com&rnum=2&prev=/groups%3Fq%3Dhpt372%2Bgroup:ml
ist.linux.kernel%2Bgroup:mlist.linux.kernel%26hl%3Den%26scoring%3Dd

it's one of those or redhat 7.2 (highpoint has a driver for 7.2)
but these highpoint are allready found on many mb's (all new abit's have
these now)

so maybe to prevent a lot of people with panic's there should be found a
sollution

i can help in testing with this if needed
