In KDE you can tweak the 'applnk' and 'mimelnk' informations about OO.o
and the extensions .sxw, .sxd and so on. I'v made this yesterday for mee
and I'm nearly satisfied. :-)
With GNOME your out of luck so far as I know. At least in Nautilus,
there is a inbuild file content recognition mechanism similar to that of
file(1) and this has precedence over the file suffixes. :-(
