most tv cards are autodetected by bttv.o. that is, you shouldn't have
to specify type=XX and tuner=YY.
but some cards aren't.

drakxtv isn't a tv card detection or configuration tool (detection is
the job of detect_devices.pm and ldetect, configuration is done by
drakx).
ie, if we detect a tv card at install time, we alter /etc/modules so
that bttv is automagically loaded when you boot.

drakxtv's job is to offer you a nice GUI in order to let you scan for
availlable tv channels instead of manually writing your .xawtv.

could you extract the related lines from /var/log/messages ?

" modprobe-k tuner" isn't nedded.
