First of all Thanks, with your help, the issue is resolved.

There may still be a small issue someone may want to look at with the G400
card detection. When I installed 8.2 I had the G400 card installed and
experienced the problems below. I tried the G450 in that machine after
install and had the same problems. Next I installed the matrox.com driver
which got dual heads going. At that point if I had known I think I could
have made the adjustments in the KDE control center you suggested and been
fine. With the G450 installed MCC did recognize both heads after installing
the matrox drivers and the setings you mentioned in the KDE control center
got the windowing behavior right. However, with the G400 installed MCC and
XFdrake do not recognize it as a dual head card although the card is
identified properly by name but no mention of dual head. For the machine
with the G400 I got the settings right with the G450 intalled and then stut
down, switched cards and now both machines are working well.

If anyone is interested I can duplicate this situation and provide info
requested.

Thanks again.
