Next I installed the matrox.com driver > which got dual heads going. Up until 8.2, the "official" Matrox drivers were clearly superior for me. The Matrox drivers supplied with 8.2 are much better, but still not quite as good. Installing the hal driver allows you to use the Powerdesk config tool. My problem is that if I add a PCI video card (Voodoo 3000) for a third head, the Mandrake setup utility gets confused (I've posted about this the other week). A fix must be made by hand. Where the splash screens are placed in xineramam mode are a function of the window manager and the software (mostly the latter as most software seems to be multi-head un-aware. KDE3 is supposed to have much improved multi-head support.Enlightenment is good for support; so is Sawfish. Hoyt
