It is completely insane to tie the pppoe.so shared lib into that mess called linuxconf. I do not want linuxconf on my gateway/firewall but I do need PPPoE. Having more software on the gateway than is absolutely needed just increases the risk that the box can get r00ted if it's broken into. Who in their right mind runs something linuxconf on an Internet gateway?
Needing PPPoE support for networking is in no way related to being able to use linuxconf on a box and I suggest that they be separated. Thots? b. -- Brian J. Murrell
