Based on that message it looks like you have a separate "/boot"?  This is
fine, but /boot should be a Linux filesystem, and a different entity than
the bootstrap.  I know some distro's were combining the two, but I don't
feel using hfs for /boot is really appropriate, as there is no provision
for permissions etc.

You can boot the 1st CD in rescue mode. Then mount "/" and chroot to the
mointpoint.  Mount your "/boot", and do an rpm -V rpm -V
kernel-2.4.18.6mdk. (Is is 6 or 6.1?, I forget what's on beta2 now)

You'll be much happier with 8.2 once you resolve your kernel issue, than
8.0.
