Leave this space as Apple_Free or Unallocated...

Wrong the bootstrap isn't /boot.  Linux/PPC does it this way but
Mandrake does not.  The bootstrap needs to be named bootstrap and be of
type Apple_Bootstrap.  If you leave at least 1MB of Apple_Free on your
drive then the installer will make this for you.
