gcc-3.1 switches the debug symbol format to DWARF2; and these are packages with debug info; which probably makes up for a large part of the difference.. Would be interesting to see how the size of release-mode packages varies... (I am making the assumption here that the new debug info version takes up more room; I don't truly know it, but it would make sense for it to...) Thanks, Maks Orlovich
