well  ... 
i see this as a big misstake,
in case Mandrake is targeting the server market,
in case you want to manage a mashine with 2,3 or more disks
you don`t have other solution than lvm,
 of course you could try IBM`s EVMS,
 but personnaly i think it`s not that ready
i tried it some months ago but it doesn`t supported lvm over md ( soft raid)
i`ll put you a single question :)
how would you install a mashine with 100 or more Gb,
which should have dynamic allocatable space
i think the only sollutions is lvm and evms when it`s ready

please, please take a look at the text installer from SuSe,
a man could install over lvm since version 6.3 about 1,5 -2 years ago,
beside that with that installer you can use all the funktionality of lvm

well that`s only my personal apinion
and sorry for the bad english again :)
