I have got RPMs of both the Gnome and the KDE3 quickstarter for
OpenOffice.org. However, at present, it requires a bit of workaround, since

1)The Gnome quickstarter wants you to give it a directory which looks
like the one created by the OpenOffice.org installer. It needs to find
program/soffice below that. If you specify /usr/lib/openoffice, you then
bypass the ooffice script provided in the Mandrake RPMs, and the biggest
impact is that you miss the fonts.

2)The KDE quickstarter wants a script named soffice (or a directory, in
which it will use soffice).

Proposal:
My proposal which would fix both of these issues (and maybe more)
without needing workarounds (like creating pseudo directories and
linking soffice in the directory to /usr/bin/ooffice - which works for
me at the moment) is to:

a)change the original soffice shell script in
/usr/lib/openoffice/program/soffice to
/usr/lib/openoffice/program/soffice.sh

b)Change the /usr/bin/ooffice to /usr/lib/openoffice/program/soffice,
and make /usr/bin/ooffice a link to /usr/lib/openoffice/program/soffice

If these changes are made, I will add the KDE3 quickstarter to contrib.

This should also help people who have used OpenOffice.org before, and
for some reason start it via /usr/lib/openoffice/program/soffice out of
habit. Believe me, there are people like this on the openoffice mailing
lists!

Otherwise, great work. With my workarounds for the Gnome quickstarter, I
have a desktop that works very well, I just need to figure out why
Nautilus refuses to show the icons for OpenOffice.org files, but I think
that is a problem with Nautilus. Hopefully Nautilus in Gnome2 will be
more useable than a console, faster to start than Mozilla, and actually
work like the rest of Gnome does!!!! You would think the official file
manager for a desktop would actually use the settings for that desktop.
