The main thing that I've found with RAID controllers is that it seems to install fine, but then dies on reboot dropping you to the maintenance shell. In the cases I've seen, rebooting without devfs has solved it. If I know it's a RAID controller I'm installing on, I just pass devfs=nomount at the install prompt. Blue skies...
