What does your program do that atitvout doesn't do? Does it actually WRITE 
working X config that can be then used to switch between monitor/tv/both?

I have (as many others do too) a laptop with ATI chip (Mobility M1) and 
the only gripe I have with atitvout is it's inability to use BOTH lcd & 
Svideo SAME TIME (as the windows driver does).
