I have a similar problem, with the additional symptom that the style
changes (in my case, from dotNet to KDE2) if I log out (ie, the first time
after a reboot KDM shows the correct style, subsequent times don't. Not
sure if its just my installation that does it, but it appears to use the
kdmrc from /usr/share/config/kdm instead of the one
in /opt/kde3/config/kdm for all but the first time I log in.
