Am I mistaken in believing that, in 8.2, it was updated daily? yes, and I personally had to alter that on many machines due to popular demand. On less powerful machines slocate did nearly halt everything. And it took forever to finish. Since most Europeans actually power down their desktops overnight the slocate update would start at next boot. It's a pain when you just want to fetch your mail but have to wait 15 sec after each click for any response to show. > 2. I suggest that a weekly update is far too infrequent (certainly at > cooker time, but probably also for normal use). maybe, though I vote for keeping it at weekly, else I again have to change it. And how does cooker relate to slocate? BTW, wasn't there any drakcron in the making? - Mark
