All, I have been following several threads regarding GUI usability on low resolution screens. I wonder if there is a compromise that can be reached.
It seems that the primary issue is when there is a configuration issue. In such a case or if a person boots in safe mode, X defaults to 640x480. In either case, the user interface (X) becomes completely unusable. Now I'm all about just hitting Ctrl-Alt-4 and getting to a command line to kill X, reconfigure and restart X. NO biggie. HOWEVER, if you are going to sell this thing to the Cattle-Culture that shops at Wal-Mart, you have to STOP thinking like geeks and think like a redneck. SIMPLE SOLUTION:: In the X-windows login screen, add an option to shutdown X. Tada! Anybody else want to share their thoughts? Devin. --------------------------------------- Devin B.
