OK, Installed Beta 3. The good news is that X came up just fine.

The bad news, I could not get printdrake to run. From Mandrake Control
Console (MCC) I went to Hardware and select printers. I would get
several 'pop-up's ... "loading ...", "checking ...", "detecting ...",
then nothing! While all that is going on the CPU usage is "pegged" at
around 95% mostly between harddrake and printdrake.

I noticed while the "detecting ..." phase was going on that the printer
(an IBM 4029-20) was 'touched' by (I assume) the printdrake process
before it ended with no output.

One other thing that ... worries me. I checked the ISO images before
the CD was burned and hd no errors. After the initial install, I
decided to use RPMdrake (from MCC) to add some other packages. Several
of the packages selected gave me errors with the md5sum checks on those
packages. Is it possible for the ISO to be OK but somehow the rpms on
the CD are corrupt?
