Hmmm.  Why not what?  I don't understand.

If you are asking why is a "side-by-side" diff more illustrative it's
because it's a much more visual representation of the differences
between files, with a lot more context than
3-lines-context-old-new-3-lines-context.  It shows in a side-by-side
comparison what the differences are.  You never have to figure out
whether "+" means lines added to the .rpmnew file or the main file,
etc.  Additionally, the "patch" format is really only useful to those
conversant on diff/patch.  For the average user, side-by-side would be
10 times more meaningful.

Uhm.  How about system("gvim -d <file>.rpmnew <file>").  Even if it
was simply a button on the bottom of the existing widget.  Want me to
send a patch?  It's only a few lines.
