Oh, one other thing...when the initial install splash screen appears, the keyboard IS funtional, as I can hit the ENTER key to start the install immediately. It dies somewhere before I have to enter in the root password. This has happened since 9.0rc1. 8.1 and 8.2 installs went fine.
