# printerdrake cupsd (pid 3792) is running... lpadmin: set-default failed: server-error-service-unavailable
$ rpm -q drakxtools drakxtools-newt harddrake-ui drakxtools-1.1.9-53mdk drakxtools-newt-1.1.9-53mdk harddrake-ui-1.1.9-53mdk This is in rc3. I updated the above packages as I can not add a turboprint printer, which was pretty much a click-through deal in 8.2. I can print in CUPS but it is 5-10 times slower than turboprint for my Canon BJC-2000. I tried both adding a port 631 protocol to guarddog (tcp ?) and disabling guarddog from the gui program.** The errors for adding/configuring a printer with turboprint's xtpsetup or xtpconfig are similar to what calling printerdrake shows: # xtpconfig lpadmin: add-printer failed: server-error-service-unavailable [....] lpadmin: add-printer failed: server-error-service-unavailable lpadmin: set-default failed: server-error-service-unavailable Also, starting CUPS WWW Admin from the menu simply denies permission to user to perform adminstrative tasks, whereas it prompted for username (root) and password previously. Thanks, Rolf ** I rpm -e'ed guarddog w/o effect.
