He states that the bug occurs at random, which usually strongly
identifies it as hardware.
In any case, many people are too scared to do the fairly simple hardware
test I suggested. It usually turns out to be much easier and quicker
than a software diagnosis, where you can so easily get lost "Now what
was I trying to do?". It also positively eliminates any removed card
as the culprit if the problem remains.
